Mental health is not any disease that you have to live in silence. Once Demi Lovato said, “you don’t have to struggle in silence”. In general, you can live well with mental health conditions as long as you open up to someone.
Mental health and wellbeing
“Mental health needs more sunlight and more unashamed conversations”, that only our parents and school could provide us. The cause of mental health is the absence of mental illness. It is a state of wellbeing where people learn about their potential, with normal stress and a connected community.
Who can take care of this
In general, people are emotionally dependent on their parents and their peers. But at present, we are not very communicative with our parents. Whereas even our parents didn’t realize that their child is in mental health or not. So, in my opinion, our schools should take this initiative to teach, or at least make them aware of what mental health is and how they can deal with them. I must say schools in Jaipur are very polite and understanding with their students.
Why it is important to promote in schools
Many people would say why schools have to take this initiative, their parents are responsible for their happiness. The answer to this is that primary school children learn and adapt things quickly with fun. Therefore, if we take this initiative with them then we can grow a good world around us. Moreover, the secondary school can also adapt this thing by making some changes in their education ways like
-> Prosper their educational journey
-> Aware of them with productive factors of mental illness.
-> Build confidence and skills to fight the competition instead of taking part in the rat race
Mental health statistics
-> Mental health foundation study found that 50% of mental health problems are raised by the age of 14 and 75% by age 24.
-> The record 2017- 19 at CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) state that children seek help from them.
-> Moreover, according to the centre of mental health, in the young generation, one person out of 10 will face mental health problems every year.
-> The National Education Union’s survey of 2019 states that less than half said they have counsellors in their schools, 3 out 10 which means only 30% are able to achieve external specialist support.
Role of schools in Promotion mental health
According to ACHM (Association for Children’s mental health), it is clear that mental health in schools is critical. As the study says, 1 out 5 students have a diagnosable emotion. Behavioural, or MHD (Mental Health Disorder). Whereas 1 out 10 young generations have mental health challenges. The role of schools in students is important as we all know. So, if we understand that mental health is also related to a student’s life, then we can grow a beautiful world. Therefore, to grow a mental illness free world, then we should take this initiative.
